All the Trees Went explores feelings of nostalgia, conflicting fears of change and stagnation, and of outgrowing spaces. From one house to the next, one state to the next, my family would move in a cycle of rooting and uprooting. Now on my own, a permanent physical home is a concept that is elusive to me. Remaining stagnant for too long leaves me feeling like the walls are closing in, but searching for someplace new, and the change that goes with it, makes me long for the comfort of a home.
